Focal points of the collection activities of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich are typography and type design. Numerous examples of typeface applications can be found in the Graphics and Poster collections, while the Graphics Collection also holds typeface samples and designs by well-known designers such as Adrian Frutiger, Walter Käch and Walter F. Haettenschweiler. These designs are published on eMuseum.ch.
The eFont.ch platform aims to visualize digital fonts that have been developed on the basis of analog typeface samples from the collections. These digital fonts are either faithful reconstructions and extensions of the original designs or free new creations inspired by them. The number of characters shown for each font varies and will be regularly updated as the typeface families grow.
The museum is free to choose its cooperation partners and is generally open to interesting projects. The samples shown on eFont.ch are the results of the museum’s collaboration with the Zurich University of the Arts / Visual Communication and with external experts.
The website eFont.ch serves exclusively to display our holdings. The fonts are not for sale on eFont.ch and can only be purchased from the respective publisher.
